Built by someone who got tired of
watching people fall through the cracks.
The Wellness Biome exists because conventional medicine keeps missing the point — and the patients who deserve better.
"After 25 years at the bedside — in emergency departments, acute care units, and intensive settings — I kept seeing the same thing. People who were struggling, being told they were fine."
Joel spent more than two decades practicing at the highest acuity levels of clinical medicine. Board certified in both Emergency and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner practice, he has worked alongside physicians, managed critically ill patients, and navigated some of the most complex cases the healthcare system produces. He has seen what medicine can do at its best — and what it routinely fails to do for the majority of patients who don't fit neatly into a diagnosis code.
What he kept seeing — in the ER, in the hospital, in every conversation with patients who had been bouncing between providers for years — was a system that treated symptoms and ignored systems. A system that ran a basic panel, declared everything normal, and sent people home still exhausted, still struggling, still searching for answers. He knew there was a better way to practice. He built The Wellness Biome to prove it.
The Wellness Biome is built on a single conviction: that optimal health is not a privilege reserved for those who can afford boutique concierge medicine or five-figure longevity clinics. It belongs to anyone willing to pursue it. By combining the rigor of advanced clinical training with the accessibility of telehealth, TWB delivers precision functional medicine to people who have been underserved, overlooked, and told their labs are fine — when they know, and we know, that fine is not the same as optimal.
The principles that guide everything.
You are not a cholesterol number or a thyroid value. You are a complete, interdependent biological system. Care that ignores that truth is not care — it's triage. We build protocols around the whole of who you are.
Reference ranges are designed to identify disease, not to define thriving. When we say we optimize, we mean we work toward the level of function where you feel your best — not just the level where you technically pass the test.
Precision medicine has historically been available only to those who could afford to pay for it privately. That is a problem worth solving. Telehealth is how we solve it — bringing the same standard of care to anyone, anywhere.
A provider who knows your story — your baseline, your history, your goals — delivers fundamentally better care than one seeing you for the first time. We are not a transactional practice. We are a long-term partnership.
Weight, hormones, age, lifestyle — none of it is grounds for a lecture. Every patient who walks through our door deserves to be heard, respected, and treated with the same clinical seriousness regardless of their starting point.
Functional medicine has a reputation for going off-script. Ours doesn't. Every protocol we build is grounded in clinical evidence, informed by 25+ years of practice, and overseen by physician medical direction. We are rigorous because our patients deserve rigor.
The people behind your care.
Joel Mack
Joel brings more than 25 years of frontline clinical experience to The Wellness Biome — from emergency departments to acute care units to the precision medicine practice he built from the ground up. He is board certified in both Emergency and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner practice, two of the most rigorous certifications in advanced practice nursing.
His clinical philosophy is simple: listen longer, look deeper, and never accept "normal" as a complete answer. He built TWB because he believed patients deserve a provider who actually has time to know their story — and the clinical depth to do something meaningful with it.
Scot Robertson
Dr. Robertson brings over 30 years of medical experience and a deep personal commitment to functional and precision medicine to his role as Medical Director of The Wellness Biome. As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, his training instilled a whole-person philosophy that aligns precisely with everything TWB was built to deliver.
His oversight ensures that every clinical protocol at TWB is grounded in rigorous medical evidence, reviewed with the depth his experience allows, and held to the standard that patients deserve when they entrust their health to a practice promising to do better than the conventional system.
A national model built for
the way care should work.
The Wellness Biome operates through a proprietary MSO — Management Services Organization — structure. This means TWB provides the clinical oversight, operational infrastructure, technology, and protocols that allow our RN-owned partner clinics to deliver care at the highest standard, in their communities, under their own practice ownership.
It's a model designed around a simple truth: the best care is delivered by providers who are invested in their patients and their communities. TWB gives those providers the backbone to deliver it.
